International Conference on Technical Textiles at Chennai

Technical Textiles are textile materials and products that are manufactured primarily for their performance and functional properties rather than for their aesthetic or decorative qualities. They are a multidisciplinary field with a wide range of end-use applications. Technical Textiles employ nearly 60 lakh people and account for approximately 13% of India's total textile and apparel market, contributing 0.7% to India's GDP.

Agrotech, Buildtech, Clothtech, Geotech, Hometech, Indutech, Meditech, Mobiltech, Oekotech, Packtech, Protech, and Sportech are the 12 application segments of the technical textiles industry. By 2024, the sector is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12%, with a market size of around US$ 45 billion. The Tamil Nadu government has identified Technical Textiles as a thrust area, designating it as a sunrise sector with special intervention. Tamil Nadu is a leading global player with significant reach and competitiveness, accounting for 50% of India's textile mills and complementary clusters of Knitting, Weaving, Spinning, and Dyeing.

With this background, CII in partnership with Department of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu is organizing an International Conference on Technical Textiles at Hotel Feathers, Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 24-25 November 2022. The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M K Stalin will inaugurate the conference on 25^th November morning during the forenoon.

This international conference will be a platform that will together key stakeholders from the Industry, Government and Academia to network, learn and progress together. Through domestic and international experts and thought leaders, it will discuss and deliberate on key opportunities, challenges, growth potential, existing and new investments, global markets and trends and expanding its horizon.
